Ayurveda is a 5000 years old medical practice having its origin in India. It is a natural and spiritual medical practice that aims at the holistic well-being of an individual. Traditional ayurveda treatment believes in the existence of one absolute source of energy, from which all the energies flows that shape the universe as well as its inhabitants.

That is, according to ayurvedic science, the elements and energies that constitutes the Universe at a macrocosmic level, also constitutes the body of a human being at a microcosmic level. Likewise, following the universal pattern, it endeavors to bring harmony and balance among the elements of our body and ensures the general rejuvenation of mind, body and soul.

Traditional ayurveda treatment looks after the whole life system of an individual, rather than seeking to procure remedies for individual treatments. It is an integrated system of medical science, which perceives the health of an individual as a sum total of the various aspects of his life such as diet, work, mental and spiritual state etc. It is like a web whereby dislodging one aspect may result in the collapse of the whole system. It also looks to the fact that every individual has a unique system of energies within him. Even though basic symptoms may appear to be the same, the root cause may be different. Ayurveda endeavors to detect that.

Basic tenets of Ayurveda

According to traditional ayurveda treatment, the universe consists of five elements: fire, water, air, earth and space. A mini replica of this elemental system is found in the human body. The human body is a composite system of three elements- fire, water and air. A harmonious balance between these elemental energies ensures general good health and longetivity of an individual. In most cases, it is found that one or two of these elements are found in excess in the body. Excess of these elements cause the following disorders:

Air - an ‘air' person is usually thin and bony. He is prone to dry skin, brittle bones, constipation and gas. Consumption of steamed food every four hours is a remedy for this. However, items like broccoli, beans, cauliflower etc are known to aggravate the condition.

Fire - A ‘fire' person is generally a hot-tempered and aggressive person. When this element is balanced the person will have keen leadership and dynamic qualities. A ‘fire' person is prone to develop skin rashes, acne, liver, kidney, ulcers, and gall bladder, blood and heart disorders.

Water - A ‘water' person is prone to develop edema, heart, kidney and digestion disorders. When the element is kept in check the person is healthy, brawny, calm and loyal, but otherwise he may become greedy and lethargic.

Laws of Ayurveda

Traditional ayurveda treatment is principally concerned with the digestion and metabolism system of an individual. According to it, improper digestion of food results in conversion of the undigested food in the body into toxins, which is the root cause of several maladies.

Ayurveda for all

Thus, this science is an all-encompassing practice, which is equally helpful to infants, children and adults. From nominal ailments to serious maladies it cures almost everything.

How To Use Free Will To Live Consciously

Our "free will" is a gift beyond measure. It allows you to consciously create your life or to live life in a very unconscious manner. The choice is yours. The secret to conscious living is to use the law of attraction consciously. This benefits your spiritual growth and can be used to define yourself.

There is a force in our make-up that is designed to help us to re-member, that is, become a member once again of who we really are. That force is our spirit, or soul.

Remember, we are all three-part beings made up of mind, body and spirit. We are a triad being living in a world of dualities. That is what the physical universe is. A world of relativity. A world of this and that. A world where every concept has an opposite. A world of duality.

In the absolute realm, love is all there is. In the realm of relativity, love cannot exist without its polar opposite, fear. When both love and fear exist in the same plane you get a whole new set of dynamics working as you throw into the mix this concept called free will.

Free will allows you to choose fear as an experience. Free will allows us to live within a foundational belief system that is based in fear, such as the paradigm of separation that most of the world subscribes to today. Free will allows us to listen to the dictates of our "ego" rather than our "sacred self." Free will has the power to liberate us or enslave us.

It is all a matter of choice. A matter of free will.

There is no absolute in the relative physical universe except the absolute that everything changes moment-to-moment. The reason that change is the only absolute is because we are creating and co-creating our reality and our world in every given moment of now by what we are choosing to create.

Every nano-second of our existence here on the physical realm is dictated by what we create both individually and collectively.

So the true nature of how things work is that we are creating our lives and the world we live in with every thought that comes into our heads, every word that comes out of our mouths and every action or deed we experience here in the physical plane.

Thought, word and deed. This is the creative formula that is the true nature of how things work. This looks pretty simple on the face of it but in the realm of the relative, in order to see something as simple you have to understand the concept of complex.

If humans were fully conscious at all times then we would have no problem with this creative formula of thought, word and deed. We would be conscious of the thoughts that enter our heads, dismiss those thoughts that do not serve us and retain and pursue those thoughts that do serve us.

If we were living consciously, we would monitor our words to ensure that we speak and write only those words that are true for us. We would understand the power of words to heal or hurt and we would speak and write only those words that reflect our innermost aspirations and character.

If we were living consciously, we would be able to see how the actions we take affect everything that is associated with that action. We would not consciously choose to do something that would harm people or destroy the environment in a way that would be detrimental to all living creatures.

If we all lived consciously and made all of our choices from a state of consciousness, we could consciously create a life and a world that would reflect the highest values that we have as individuals and as societies.

However, we live in a relative world of dualities so we have a choice to live and create consciously or unconsciously.

Being unconscious doesn't mean that you are asleep or in a state where you cannot function. You are in the awakened state but you are not cognizant of the decision making process that is an on-going part of your every day life. We are in a continual process of making choices. Everything we do is a choice.

We make so many choices that we relegate many of these choices to patterns of behavior that allow us to just automatically pick a choice that is congruent with how you have defined your life.

Ask yourself this question right now, "Am I living consciously or unconsciously?" If you answered that you are living consciously ask yourself this question, "Am I consciously creating the life of my every intention and desire?" Now ask yourself again, "Am I living consciously or unconsciously?"

Simple Acupoint Massages in Enhancing Intimate Relationship

(Couples should engage in mutual massage for best results)

Firstly, massage the spinal cord, which Chinese physicians refer to as the main passageway of arteries and veins. Begin the massage by gently massaging the neck area, moving down the spinal cord until you reach the Chang Qiang acupoint at the end of the coccyx. This acupoint can treat nocturnal emission, erectile dysfunction and ailments related to kidney essence.

Secondly, move along the spinal cord and brush your hands across your partners thighs and focus on the feet. Gently massage both feet, as this allows your partner to feel your enduring passion, which brings a great deal of satisfaction to some people.

ln addition, gently place your palms below the belly button. The Guan Yuan acupoint is located below the belly button and this can act as the centre for abdominal massages performed in a circular motion. This massage helps to augment qi and tonifies middle qi, which in turn warms the kidneys and strengthens the spleen. It helps to treat male sexual dysfunction, premature ejaculation and loss of appetite.

Things to Take Note during Self Massage:

Perform these actions before massaging the acupoints, for example: try to relax, take slow, deep breaths, focus your senses on all parts of your body.Lubricate your hands with some massaging oil or baby lotion during massaging. When massaging the acupoints, increase the force applied gradually until you experience a sense of soreness. When mutual massage is performed among couples, some may become sexually aroused in the process, but there is no need to rush into sex. It's best to rest for a short period before slowly engaging in pleasurable sexual activity.

Does Living Consciously and Loving Consciously = Happiness?

Stop. Take a deep breath.

Use all your senses to really feel for a couple of seconds, to be completely aware of your surroundings, totally alert to Life in this very second.

Ahhhh. Okay.

Here we are, you, me, all of us together, close to 7 billion of us and counting, on a pretty damn extraordinary journey.

Life on planet earth.

All participating in this very same adventure-at this very same moment. Crazy when you stop to really think about it, no?

An infinity of circumstances, a kaleidoscope of destinies...

Yet all are made up of the very same stories and dramas. Our human repertoire of emotions lived and re-lived in a million different ways.

All of us equipped by nature with the same human tools. All of us with body, mind, and spirit. And yet, every single one of us living our own lives under different circumstances, even within the same family.

But no matter what our personal situation is, there is one thing we all have in common, well, actually two things.

Two things we all search for far and wide.

For thousands of years we have pursued "happiness" and "love" in all its forms and meanings. We have sought it everywhere, leaving no stone unturned; wars have been waged in the name of love, religions established to help us find happiness (in the next life, if not this one), philosophies have tried to explain the source and meaning of love and happiness.

How do we find real happiness, and how do we find true love?

These great questions continue to be our 'holy grail,' a driving personal goal, a deep inner desire...and somehow they also continue to be questions with not so easy an answer.

Or maybe, like my dad has been telling me since as far back as I can remember..."life is simple, very simple, just not always easy...and life is beautiful. You just have to learn how to live it."

Maybe the answer is in that you don't ever actually "find" loveand happiness. You make it.

Consciously creating our own Love & Happiness seems to be the most reasonable of answers.

The most direct and empowering. It puts the responsibility 100% on our own shoulders. You don't have to believe in any particular religion or adhere to any set of rules. You are the master of your own soul, of your own life, creator and producer of your own situations.

Now, I'm not going to dive into a deep philosophical debate on "destiny" or "fate", I'm not even going to mention "karma",('cept this once*)-that would make for a much longer chat.

So when I say we are the "creators of our own situations" I am speaking about the situations in which we have a choice to make. The events in our lives that are "out of our control" I'm going to classify as destiny, fate & karma (ok, twice mentioned**).

Conscious Living = Conscious Loving = Happiness.

Wikipedia defines 'consciousness' as: "a subjective experience, "awareness" as the ability to experience "feeling" wakefulness, the understanding of the concept "self" or the executive control system of the mind."

By definition then, Conscious Living would imply that we are aware, awake, and deeply feeling our lives; understanding ourselves fully and in command of our minds and emotions.

Conscious Loving would imply the same thing; expressing our love and receiving love from others in the most aware, awake and present possible manner.

So far so good.

It seems then, that our big life questions are answered from the inside out.

Maybe we've been doing this all wrong, all this questing and searching for something as if it were outside of us, as if it would hit us smack in the forehead someday. As if the universe would up and gift us a nicely wrapped bundle of love and happiness! All this looking... looking like chickens with our heads cut off!

Does living in a 'conscious' manner create happiness then? Does it bring Love?

I wish I could simply say "yes, for sure, absolutely!" Of course I can't, because I personally don't have the answers to the big questions in life. And I certainly can't answer such big questions for anybody else, just for myself. And only YOU can answer what can bring you love and happiness. Yes-the Guru is within you!

But there ARE certain road maps to help you get closer to the answer.

These road maps are as old as the questions themselves. In fact, they are much like what my dad always says, "very simple, just not always easy." So for the sake of simplicity I'm going to list the 3 most important concepts; the '3 Pillars of a Happy Life'.

The First Step: Know Thyself.

If we are the producers of our own personal life drama then surely the focus should be on 'internal questing.' Basing our outer lives on our inner experience, not the other way around.

Our life mission should consist of a continuous inquiry into who we are at the very core of our being. In order to know what makes us tick, what makes us feel, what makes us cry with joy and what brings meaning to our souls.

The more we know ourselves, the more in touch we are with the divine essence in ourselves, the more understanding and mastery we will have over our minds and emotions.

The more we know ourselves, the more we can make decisions which are in alignment with what makes us happy, with what makes us feel good inside, fulfilled, alive.

The Second Step: Feel deeply.

Feeling deeply is to feel alive, it is the river of human experience. It is being in the moment with your experience.

It is your birthright and the gift of this earthly experience to feel with all your senses. It is what makes you grow and what makes you truly present.

Feeling means being aware of your emotions and the physical sensations that are attached to these emotions. It means to allow yourself to explore the sensations of both body and soul.

The Third Step: Be True to Yourself.

Being true to oneself is an action of courage, a big step towards 'consciously creating.' It is following the inner compass that guides you towards a truer self.

It is listening to your inner voice and your feelings and following through with standing up for yourself and following your own path in this life.

...

For some reason, society in its current incarnation isn't organized in such a way as to encourage and enhance the explorations of these three major steps toward living a conscious life, loving a conscious love and being truly happy.

With so much noise and bombast happening outside, sometimes it's good to head inside and get back to basics.

To say-these things matter.

These three things.

Know Thyself, Feel Your Feelings, Be True to Yourself.

Life is beautiful. Life is simple. But you have to learn how to live it.
