Using Power Consciousness For a Successful Business

Power Consciousness is a device made to explain how much energy we use, without having to be a state worker to understand. God Himself has stated that Earth's pathway to salvation is assured and it's up to each of you to assure your own. At this stage God begins to conceive in His Mind the Universe to be created. At this stage, the Divine Power of Action which is the Power whereby God may assume, or manifest Himself as, any form or shape, comes into operation.

So many people are becoming aware of this change in consciousness. A greater awareness of energy and how energy works is helping to bring about this change in consciousness. Power Consciousness is the breath that makes everything live. Consciousness is the source of all the knowledge and power. It is energy which can be expanded by individuals.

Up to and including this stage, Creation is Ideal in the sense that it is very much one with the Mind of God just as a thought or idea is one with the mind of the person who conceives it. The facts of the mind being given in time alone, and in no wise under the conditions of space, and therefore existing without the pale of exact measurement, was the reason upon which he based his assertion and his prophecy. The approach to a knowledge of mind lay through the fields of abstract conceptions, of which those presumed to fit such an entity had to be analyzed and adjusted to other abstractions before a discussion of subjective experience could be entered upon.

The entire Universe consists of various manifestations of God (the Universal Consciousness) which together form the basis of all our experiences. The Universe at this level is purely Spiritual and is inhabited by Spiritual Beings such as Gods (Angels). CONSCIOUSNESS which pervades the universe yet remains. No doubt, God attends to this business of managing the universe; but He is glad to have some help. When the helper is selfless and intelligent, all the powers of the universe are for him to command. So responsive is the Universe to our will that if we can break the subconscious patterns, even for a little while, we can see at least some small part of that which we (claim) we really desire.

Use power consciousness to take control of your business, your relationships, your destiny. Power Consciousness will guide you towards taking massive actions in achieving one goals while making you aware of every action you take. Consciousness-raising is pertinent for power, and be sure that power will not be abusively used, but used for building trust and goodwill domestically and internationally. Acknowledging and aligning all that you do with the consciousness that you are, provides you with an unshakable power.

Our New Heroes and Heroines - Socially Conscious Business

When we think of business, the motto typically has been, "a deal is good if it is best for me." Today, social entrepreneurs inspire us with a new motto, "A deal is good when it is good for all concerned." Moreover, most business gurus have not used words like "joy" and "generosity" to talk about the bottom line, nor do we typically think of business creating a sustainable global economy. Yet, for increasingly more entrepreneurs, that is just what is happening. For many, these are our new heroes and heroines.

Our New Heroes and Heroines

The dictionary defines "hero" as "a person noted for feats of courage or purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his life." A new kind of hero is emerging. They are not famous politicians or soldiers, yet they have improved the lives of millions of people and made the world more secure.

Their weaponry is not of guns and war, but of creative ideas, dogged determination, and a deep belief in their power to change the world. These "social entrepreneurs" are bringing life-changing tools and resources to people desperate for solutions. They are the many businesses that are becoming more socially conscious.

For these entrepreneurs, the bottom line is about more than profit, it is also about people and the planet. They align business strategy with the goals and values of broader society by focusing on the social, environmental, as well as financial contributions of a company. They help to build communities where employees are happy to work, live, and stay, and thereby build stable businesses and communities.

What are They Doing?

Perhaps the most well-known hero can be seen in the story of the Gameen Bank, one of the most successful development organizations in the world. Founded by Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh in 1976, the Gameen Bank has extended small loans for self-employment to more than two million woman villagers and has helped to lift hundreds of thousands out of poverty. The Gameen bank's 'trickle up' approach has inspired the creation of hundreds of "micro-credit" programs around the world and helped to reshape international development policy.

Another example is that of Susan Davis, a powerful woman in finance; who maintains a down-to-earth candor that resonates caring, authenticity, and concern. She lives in a small town in Wisconsin, and is thrilled at growing an organic vegetable garden. Yet she has created networks among some of the nation's wealthiest families, foundations, women business owners, and socially conscious investors. She educates money managers about the win-win opportunities for socially responsible investing while giving them the tools and contacts to do the job. This helps them to create socially conscious businesses and practice.

The Big Question: Finance

One of the biggest questions about socially responsible business is: Do socially responsible companies perform better financially? One of Susan Davis' concerns has been whether this approach is supported by hard research. On this, evidence from meta studies is in: Social and environmental responsibility does go hand in hand with superior financial performance.

A meta-study is distinguished by being a study of studies. It covers years of research from a variety of perspectives, which lends to its greater authority. A most impressive and rigorous was done by Orlizky of the University of Sydney, Australia, and Frank Schmidt and Sara Rynes at the University of Iowa. What were their findings? A statistically significant positive association between corporate social performance and financial performance. It does not take rocket science to understand why socially conscious businesses do better. The businesses are centered on values and mission, and employees are more engaged around a purpose, which makes it easier for the firms to handle external change, turbulence, and crisis. It builds reputations and enhances relationships with investors, while attracting better employees and maintaining goodwill. The firms do better and run better. With the current economic crisis, these new social entrepreneurs help to bring hope to all of us.

Conscious Business - The 4 Components of Conscious Business Success

I often get asked by colleagues and clients, "What's it take to really succeed in business during times like this?" First, I tell them that "times like this" don't have to be their reality. In fact "times like this" are the "best of times" for many entrepreneurs who take a serious (and conscious) approach to their business, and refuse to let the "real world" stop them in their tracks.

Success also requires you to have COURAGE - because you've got to be ready to answer some of the tough questions that'll guide you to your highest and best good as a conscious entrepreneur. And, I have to believe that if you're reading this article, you have the courage it takes to do just that. Your courage to keep going, (and not quit on your dream) is what will keep you growing in service to others, to your bottom-line, and to the greater good of all!

So let's take a look at the 4 Components of Conscious Business, which will cause you to ask yourself some of those courageous questions. Use these four components regularly (as a gauge) to see whether or not you are on the right track. And, be ready to make the necessary changes that'll support you in building your successful, prosperous, and conscious business.

Component #1:

A Conscious Business Makes Money Is your business making money? Is it making enough money to fully support your soul's purpose in the world? The truth is, you are meant to attract A LOT of money; not for the purpose of acquiring material possessions (and being able to keep up with the Jones'); rather, you're meant to receive a lot of money so you can do what you were created to do on this Earth. Whether you make $50,000, $500,000 or $5,000,000 per year, now is a good time to take a good look at the bottom-line of your business. And, if you discover your business isn't built on a model that makes a lot of money, have the courage to ask for help to identify the ways in which you can build a profitable, purposeful business.

Component #2:

A Conscious Business Makes a Difference. Does your business truly make a difference to others? Can you feel the difference you're making? When you're operating as a conscious business owner, it's not just about the money; it's about being of service and making a difference in the lives of others. For some entrepreneurs to connect with the difference they're making, they need to look a few layers deep. For instance if you're not in a business that allows you to connect with the difference you make, take a look deeper to see how those clients and customers you serve are making a difference in the world. Once you're able to connect with the difference you make (even if it's a few layers deep), you'll have more motivation and inspiration to grow your conscious business, because you'll know the "ripple effect" your work has on the world.

Component #3:

A Conscious Business Calls You To Be Fully Who You Are Does your business allow you to be ALL of who you are? Are you able to be fully expressed in your business without feeling like you have to hide parts of yourself? Being WHO YOU ARE is the strongest asset you can have as a business owner. Why? Because nobody can be you! Nobody can duplicate your heart and soul! And nobody can exude you... other than you! So, this also means that nobody can compete with you. How sweet is that? You get to design your business in a way that lets you be fully you, AND at the same time you naturally eliminate anyone or anything that can be perceived as "competition." There's only one you, so capitalize on YOU in your business. Not only will you feel great, but you'll also become a magnet that attracts only those customers and clients who are a perfect fit for you.

Component #4:

A Conscious Entrepreneur Trusts In Their Divine Plan Do you believe in a higher, Divine plan? How much trust do you have in that larger plan for your business and your life? This fourth component is vitally important to embrace fully as a conscious entrepreneur; because this is the component that turns "times like this" into the "best of times." This is where you rise above the "reality" of the physical world to connect with the perfect plan that is unfolding for you in each and every moment. Only when you operate your business based on this higher approach will you begin to turn struggle into success, fear into faith, lack into abundance and challenge into triumph.

Now that you've learned more about these four components, I encourage you to spend some time truly pondering the questions posed here. Tap into your courage as you ask these questions, discover the answers and take your next steps. The reward will be a business that is filled with purpose, passion and profit!

Consciously Seeking Excellence in Small Business

Ever wonder why some people are effective in their work while others aren't? The answer may be found in their consciousness. But it's not about being awake - it's about being aware.

There are four levels of performance consciousness. Here's what they look like.

1. Unconscious Incompetent

The Unconscious Incompetent doesn't know that he doesn't know. He's also called a DK2, which is short for, "don't know, squared." He's not only incapable, but actually clueless about his inability.

In truth, everyone is a DK2 from time to time. The challenge is to not live our lives as one because DK2 is a terminal professional condition.

But if you're saying, "Oh, Great One - stop me before I DK2 again," don't fret; we'll get to that.

2. Unconscious Competent

This person lurches uncontrollably toward success; she doesn't know how or why it happened. Sometimes we call such a person gifted or lucky. Those of us who have to work hard for everything we get call them annoying.

But don't envy the Unconscious Competent because not knowing how you got where you are is one of the definitions of lost. And any resulting success is likely to be temporary.

3. Conscious Incompetent

This person is incapable and knows it. There is no ego about what he thinks he knows and no resistance to your methods and practices. A Conscious Incompetent is an amorphous block of disciple clay waiting to be molded by you, the master sculptor.

But be careful. Sometimes this person wallows in his condition as an excuse for non-performance. Conscious Incompetence should be a temporary condition on the way to the ultimate level of consciousness.

4. Conscious Competent

This person gets the job done and knows why. She can identify what causes success but, more importantly, is fully aware - and takes ownership - of her failures.

How do you become a Conscious Competent? Through a practice called self-analysis.

Self-analysis allows us to see what we do well and capitalize on it, as well as recognize and evaluate what we don't do well and improve or minimize it.

Self-analysis isn't easy; sometimes it even stings because it requires that we control our ego.

Ego obstructs self-analysis by telling us that any success we have is because we're so smart, while assuring us that any failures we experience couldn't be our fault. Successful self-analysis is part of a conscious plan for professional improvement.

By practicing self-analysis, Conscious Competents discover the enduring benefits of being honest with themselves about their own performance.

Write this on a rock... "If professional excellence were a mountain, Conscious Competence would be its peak."

3 Powerful Strategies For Growing the Creative & Conscious Business With Ease

Welcome! I'm delighted you made your way to this report, which was created to provide the Creative & Conscious Entrepreneur with 3 Powerful Strategies to Grow Your Business with Ease.

These 3 strategies were created through witnessing what was not present for struggling clients, and when we developed these 3 areas, they were empowered to make different choices, take different actions, and experience growth in their Creative & Conscious business. This is what I want for you.

I will also share with you that I traveled this same path myself. So I can tell you from personal experience that developing these strategies will absolutely make a difference for you. You must be committed, and remember that when we bring something new into our lives, something else must go.

Be Conscious about piling more "to do" items onto your list. Getting caught up in the "knowledge" and "doing" is an unconscious habit from the old paradigm, and where many people get stuck making the shift. Remember, you now know that success in the new paradigm comes from exercising the nontraditional skills of Creativity while remaining Conscious.

Please note that these strategies are circular, not linear, and each strategy serves as a foundation for the one that follows. Because the Creative & Conscious business owner is always learning and growing, the cycle consistently restarts itself.

Powerful Strategy #1 Clarity and Confidence

One of the biggest culprits for keeping you stuck, in a rut, or feeling like you have much more potential than you're expressing, is a lack of clarity and confidence. It's one of the most common experiences of Creative & Conscious business owners making the shift, and it's also one of the most hidden ones.

Many of us carry the fierce need to succeed into our business and relationships. This is really residue from the old paradigm, and those unconscious choices and actions impede business growth in the new paradigm. It is in this place that we find ourselves connected to the doing, without understanding the "Why". Wisdom uncovered through disciplined skills development is what liberates you from this prison of the old paradigm.

It is only when you become completely clear about what your gifts and talents are, how they contribute to your clients, who the best clients are for you and why, that you develop the confidence to step forward into an increasingly stronger and healthier business experience, at a faster and faster rate. This is also the place where your clients step into better and better experiences faster and faster simply because of your positive impact on them.

This first Powerful Strategy is all about skill, and taking baby steps at first. Getting clear and confident also calls us to strengthen our patience. Obviously a quality that was not called for very often in the Information Age! Practicing patience can be tough, but hang in there, because while this doesn't ever end, it does get exponentially easier as you develop your Creative & Conscious faculties.

Two of the tools that yield the greatest results for my private clients, and that I personally transfer into my own business, are Your True Values (originally developed by Coach University), and Discover Your Spine" (my own tool). I use them with my Platinum clients during retreats and the results are infectious! When you take your time and have some fun with these tools, they yield foundational clues that you'll carry with you as you continue on your adventure of developing your Creative & Conscious faculties!

Powerful Strategy #2 Embodiment

If you choose to do just one thing differently as a result of reading this report, let it be to embody what you learn and what you are ready to create.

I CANNOT ENCOURAGE YOU ENOUGH TO IMPLEMENT EMBODYING INTO YOUR CREATIVE & CONSCIOUS BUSINESS.

The old paradigm, which is heavily weighted in knowledge and doing, prods you to get us much in as fast as you can! There's often a sense of urgency and scarcity within this paradigm, and Creativity and Consciousness cannot live here.

The new paradigm is about embodying what you're consciously creating. There is a huge difference between "knowing" the trend or concept, and really getting how it uniquely affects you and your business, and "feeling" it in your body, experiencing it. Embodiment is the way to move through obstacles you are guaranteed to encounter.

One of the reasons artists are able to create so consistently and expansively is that they understand and practice embodiment. Experiential learning is the only way I know to truly embody anything. Horses are our most powerful teachers of embodiment, because being in relationship with them requires this from us, and this is why Equine-Facilitated Learning Experiences are by far the best thing you can do to enrich your life and Grow your Business with Ease.

Horses are the most powerful models, mirrors and inspirations we have for embodiment. For many reasons, which scientific research has proven, these special creatures naturally bring out the best and the worst in us, powerfully showing us the energy we are expressing and infusing into our business. Just like your business, a horse will very clearly either connect or disconnect with the energy you embody.

A few reasons why embodying through experiential learning creates and sustains true shifts include:

* Like your brain, your body has memory too. When you embody what you are creating, you are able to rewire neural pathways

* When you are in relationship with sentient beings you feel what you are creating, which makes unconscious blocks conscious for you

* Embodiment requires present moment awareness, and challenges you to not miss a beat. This is the transformational place from business is Creatively and Consciously grown

* Embodying what you are creating allows you to choose differently, based on what you are Creating

* Embodiment makes clear the current relationship between the Authentic Self and the External Self, and how they are currently working together (or not) to impact the quality of results you create in your business

By nature, the tools and skills of experiential learning must be practiced. The only way to strengthen these skills is to by doing them (Hint: this is the Creative piece!). This is why I strongly encourage you to explore my experiential learning programs.

Learn more about regularly offered Equine Facilitated Experiential Learning and Coaching experiences. Private programs are customized, so we can both embody "outside of the box!"

* Experiential Learning Workshops without horses are also available

* Transformational Wisdom from Artists and Horses, my free weekly newsletter provides stories, tips & ways to embody your Creative & Conscious faculties

As you explore what's available for you to embody more of your Creative & Conscious faculties, notice what resonates for you. And honor the value of this Action step (Hint: this is the Creative piece). While the old paradigm might dismiss the value of this Action, this subtle step is packed with tremendous power in the new paradigm.

Taking the smallest action is the challenge of staying in the present moment. It is through being present that you Grow your Business with Ease!

Powerful Strategy #3 Making Different Choices, Creating Different Results

I like to call this Powerful Strategy the dynamic intersection between Clarity/Confidence and Embodiment. My clients understand that the quality of the results you create is directly related to the quality of your experience. Another way to say this is that quality results are created when your Choices are made Creatively and Consciously, informed by your Clarity, impacting your Confidence positively, and propelling you into Embodying Right Action at any given point in time.

What I know is that this is an ongoing process that requires practice and patience. I also know that we do not make different choices and cannot create different results until we embody our purpose, priorities, standards and values. This applies to Growing Your Business with Ease, and you must be Creative & Conscious in order to do this authentically and effectively.

In order to thrive in the new paradigm, your Creative & Conscious faculties must be honed. In this paradigm, we operate from the present moment, which challenges us to be exceptionally aware of what is happening within us and within our environment. This can change in a second, and we are called to stay on top of it.

There is no way that someone can do this for you, or give it to you. The greatest tools you have for living Powerful Strategy #3 are instilling the discipline to regularly practice the tools in Powerful Strategy #1. Through direct coaching and learning experiences, what you are saying and doing at a deeper level is uncovered, liberating you to Create from a keener level of Consciousness.

I stand behind the Conscious Creative and I am committed to helping more of you Grow Your Business with Ease. And have fun in the process!

Increasing Your Bottom Line Through Conscious Business

While the business world and Corporate America tend to evoke visions of wealthy business people consumed by themselves and their bank accounts, there is a growing movement of companies whose owners and leadership want something different. Known as conscious business, company owners strive to consider the effects of their business actions on the people and the environment around them. It is essentially about incorporating social and environmental responsibility into the daily business decision's and strategy.

How well does your business line up with such ideals?

Most businesses fit into the category of for-profit or non-profit, but conscious business has created a new model - not-just-for-profit. This model invokes a commitment to improving the quality of the lives of employees, the community, and society. Not because it is mandated by law but because it is the socially responsible thing to do.

Since Conscious Business has a purpose even greater than increasing the bottom line, it can be a rewarding experience for everyone involved. As a result, work productivity and employee retention increases, which has a positive effect on the customer, and ultimately increases the bottom line.

Below are some common characteristics of a conscious business:

Owners and employees are aware of the impact their actions and practices have on the environment and other people around them; they strive to live their lives with personal responsibility and an increased awareness of how the planet and people around them are interrelated.
Owners make an effort to manage utilizing encouragement, compassion, creativity, freedom and growth, where employees work together to meet individual and common goals that benefit them as well as their business and the community.
The work atmosphere becomes a place for Owners and employees to work together, making a difference in not only their business but in the world around them.

The advantage of conscious business is that everyone wins, the owners, employees, customers and the community. Moving from a traditional, bottom-line focused business to a conscious business may seem daunting at first, but it is possible, especially if change begins with the company leadership.

Conscious business leaders are genuine, authentic, communicative, and focused on serving those around them. They are leaders who see themselves as equals with their employees and customers. Conscious business leaders lead by example, conducting themselves in an authentic and honest approach.

Dedicate yourself to changing your business management style to a conscious business model and be prepared to improve your bottom line.

Your transformed perspective cannot help but flow into your personal life, finances and other important relationships. Conscious business is a path to the business and life of your dreams.

How to Create a Conscious Business

Conscious business is about conscious people and conscious business practices. In some ways, operating a conscious business is a lot like parenting. As a parent, for example, you can lay down all the rules and guidelines that you want but unless you model the desired behavior to your children, they are less likely to follow your rules.

In the same way, the conscious business model is going to be largely ineffective unless you, as a business owner and leader, model conscious attitudes and behaviors to your employees and customers.

I believe a business can only be as conscious as its leadership and employees and I have seen this in my own business. Employees take their cues from their managers and those they report to. When you dedicate yourself to consistently making conscious choices and taking conscious actions, you will notice that your employees naturally adopt the practices and behaviors for themselves.

This is how you cultivate and create conscious business.

So what are the behaviors and actions of a conscious business person? Here are a few qualities and characteristics of to consider. . .

A conscious business person:

* Creates a business vision that is appealing and beneficial to all employees and customers as well as the world around them;

* Considers how their personal behaviors and actions affect employees, customers and the world around them;

* Has a positive attitude and makes an effort to live joyfully and peacefully with others;

* Can work through conflict in a healthy, balanced way without becoming offended or angry;

* Avoids domineering or intimidating behaviors and attitudes;

* Focuses on personal growth as well as the personal growth of employees, so that the business environment can continue to benefit from all of the personal development.

When you as a conscious business person lead a company, great things can happen because you are focused on self-development - which helps you become a better human being. The results are an improved quality of life and a business that can make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Another benefit to becoming a conscious business person is that like-minded people will be drawn to you. These will be individuals who sense your values and your positive, service-oriented vision. They will desire to have a connection with you, whether as an employee or customer.

And when conscious people come together there is potential for even greater growth, achievement and reward.

On an interesting note, people whose focus in not on being conscious will either adapt to your business culture and make a personal change or will remove themselves from the environment altogether. This allows you to build a strong foundation and continue to grow as a conscious business.

Whether you are just starting on a path to creating a conscious business or are striving to strengthen your conscious business efforts, you have arrived at an exciting time of self-discovery and personal development.

The personal and business rewards are endless as you build meaningful relationships, realize your life purpose and positively impact the lives of others through your work.

What Do They Mean When They Say "Conscious Business"?

There is a growing trend among small businesses and corporations who are utilizing

the conscious business model - and succeeding. These companies illustrate how incorporating conscious business principals can and does increase the bottom line.

S0 exactly what is meant by "conscious business"?

Here's how the Conscious Business Institute (consciousbusinessinstitute.com) describes this model:

"Conscious Business is primarily about people who are aware of the impact each of their habits and actions has on their environment. It is about people who live their lives based on the knowingness that everything is interconnected. It is about people, who know who they are - who know about their strengths and weaknesses and who desire to live and work with joy, creativity, ease and love instead of fear, power and domination."

My perspective is that conscious business is a way of doing business where the creation of value is considered the foundation for creating wealth. Value is defined here as contribution to both the individual and the common good.

It is business infused with values that include integrity, generosity, honesty and service. These values are at the core of conscious business and are in essence the foundation upon which all business success is built.

Ultimately, conscious business is a way of doing business that recognizes and embraces the interconnectedness of Life. It is being socially and environmentally responsible. A conscious business operates with heart and soul and seeks to be aware of its impact on the lives of its employees, its customers, its community and the world.

The wonderful thing about this approach is that it operates in harmony with the life principle of giving and receiving. As you pour your time and energy into creating value for the benefit of the community and the environment, your business becomes more profitable than ever as the return current of sales and profits multiplies.

Conscious business practices and strategies are other-focused, which means you have happy customers and happy employees - the best recipe for business success. In essence, your business expands when you aren't looking!

On the other hand, when your business focus is solely on creating profits, you can miss out on the beauty and unity of working with and for others. This kind of tunnel vision can create sleepless nights and stressful days and it can be a mental, emotional and spiritual drain on your psyche. More importantly, this behavior is often ineffective.

If you find yourself spinning your wheels and racking your brain, it might be time to start integrating conscious business practices into your company's working philosophy.

Start placing your focus on making the world a better place and being the person you have been called to be. Look for ways to create amazing value for your customers as well as for your employees. The results will pleasantly surprise you!

By placing your focus onto others and your world, your business will naturally succeed. That's the beauty of conscious business. Spend some time adopting conscious business methods and then sit back amazed as your business takes off!

A Guide to Conscious Business - Living Consciously

Living consciously and being conscious in home business means existing in a state of grace. It's when you start to see the magic in the mundane.

When you can see the scared in the ordinary and become fully a part of the present moment, you understand that every day life, especially your business life, is a joy and an adventure.

When you're dashing through life as if it was a race to the finish line, only to realise that you'll never actually arrive, you're not living authentically.

If you're depressed, frazzled and worn out by the endless pursuit of something, but you're not even sure what that something is, then you're like millions of others who aren't living consciously.

How can you be joyful for your son's victory in the football match, when you're worrying about a client, or thinking about the work you could be doing instead? It's impossible.

The best you can do is to be in the moment at any given time and give that moment you full and complete attention. Be conscious in the moment and see what a difference it makes to your day.

Endless distractions and busy-ness leads to a scattering of consciousness that leads to frustration and unhappiness. Sometimes it seems easier just to deal with whatever comes up during the day - emails, phone calls, bills, kids, your daily round, rather than create the space necessary to start living with purpose and passion.

So, how do you begin to live more consciously?

By carving out precious time alone to listen to the voice within.

By making meditation and prayer a part of your daily life.

By fully participating in the present moment as many times a day as you can.

By training yourself to become acutely aware of your sense perceptions. What can you see, hear, smell, touch and taste at any given point during the day?

As a parent, think of how your toddler sees the world. Children can often teach us great lessons in this regard. Each and every day is an adventure, almost as if they're experiencing everything for the first time and marvelling at its brilliance. Wouldn't it be awesome to live in the same way?

I am constantly inspired to do this by my young daughter. She has been blessed with a fantastic sense of humour and passionately goes forth every day looking for opportunities for fun and laughter. While I am changing her clothes in the morning, she laughs and throws her arms around my neck, trying to stop me from pulling a shirt over her head. To her it's a wonderful game. Some days when I'm in a rush, I find myself becoming annoyed and just wishing she would give it up and let me dress her in the fastest time possible. But then I stop and realise what a joy these moments could be, if I allowed them to be. By simply changing my perception, and joining in her game, or creating a new one where we play peekaboo as the shirt goes over her head brings us both greater joy. What's more, it probably only adds no more than one minute to the entire process, but we're both laughing hard at the end and feeling happy.

Take a moment in everything you do to be aware of it - to be conscious of it. Create that moment of space where you're not thinking about the future or the past, but are committed to the present. It's as simple as noticing the breath going in and out of your lungs, or feeling the muscles in your legs working as you take a step, or how something really tastes as you eat it. Eating consciously is an excellent way to lose weight. When you're really in the present when you eat, your body will tell you when it has had enough. If you eat in front of the television, or while doing something else, you're not conscious of what is going into your mouth, how it really tastes or how it makes your body feel.

Heightened sensory perception helps explain why going on a holiday or trip to a foreign place can make you feel alive, passionate, energised and interested. When you're in unfamiliar surroundings, you're taking it all in. You're seeing, smelling, hearing, touching and tasting everything for the first time. Not only does it make you feel alive but it can relax and recharge. Imagine if you could carry this holiday way of being into your daily life. It's not difficult.

Being in the present is the first step in a process that will create a new way of being. Living consciously will gradually erode your old conditioned negative thought processes. You will find you worry less and experience more - more joy, happiness and abundance.

You are perfect and whole in this instant. Go into the world with a new mindset, live consciously and see the beauty in everything.
